Welcome to my blog. I started it a long time ago as a project for my master's degree, and loved it so much I've (mostly) kept up with it over the years. I'm an avid reader (duh!) and read mysteries, thrillers, historical fiction, literary fiction, science fiction, and fantasy. I read children's, young adult, and grown-up books. I say I read the children's and young adult books because it's part of my job to stay current on trends in those two genres (and it is), but really, I just love them. I have an almost narcissistic need to be considered well-read, and until I started blogging I prided myself on reading more books in a year than almost everyone I know. Now that I have "met" so many bloggers, I can see that I have actually been slacking!
I'm a literacy coach at a high school in the south suburbs of Chicago. Before landing here, I was a special educator for 18 years, and a literacy coach at an elementary school for four years. I'm a member of a fabulous book club full of amazing women that get together once a month to catch-up, drink wine, and occasionally talk about the book. I am also the youth coordinator at Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Oak Park, IL, which means I spend six out of seven days a week surrounded by teenagers, and I love every minute of it! My wife and I live in a cozy brick home with our adorable, not-at-all spoiled dog Dolly. Our daughter is safely off on her own, and I don't think I'm being biased when I say she is pretty awesome.

I love free books! I really do! ARCs make me happy. BUT, I've decided that I am too selfish in my reading to choose my books based on when I promised someone a review, so I am not currently taking review requests. Questions, concerns, nice things you want to say to me privately? You can contact me at heathergodbout@gmail.com
